Drawn using a ball-point pen, this work was inspired by my experiences with the 'Year of the Monkey' Chinese Spring Festival celebrations. This work features the Chinese deity, Sun Wukong.

'Syncretic Self'
A recent self-portrait drawn from life (observing my reflection in a mirror). Drawn directly with a ball-point pen (no pencil underlay) within one sitting. The surrounding imagery has also been rendered using a ball-point pen.

This particular attempt was an exercise within experimention, as much as it was a study within observation.

Dianthus Cinensis and Tageres Patula Still Life
Further observational studies. The subjects are the flora species Tageres Patula (or 'French Marigold') and Dianthus Chinensis (or 'Chinese Pink'). I experimented a little with the mark-making also.

Painted from life, this is my fifth attempt with this medium, and my second grisaille alla prima self-portrait. Hopefully there's an improvement on the work prior like emoticon.
